Girls N Gears had the exciting opportunity to host a booth at the San Joaquin County STEAM Fair and Expo on Saturday, January 8th! We spent the day engaging with numerous girls, inspiring them to explore and develop a deeper interest in STEM. It was an amazing experience, and we are thrilled to have played a part in empowering the next generation of innovators!
What an inspiring day for Guide N Grow! We had the unique privilege of collaborating with Stanford University’s renowned CHARM Lab for an immersive tour, where our students experienced a hands-on introduction to the fascinating fields of haptics and biomedical robotics. The day began with an inspiring talk from Professor Allison Okamura, where she explained the significance of haptic feedback in robotics and its profound influence on areas like surgical tools and human-machine interaction. Attendees were captivated by how critical these technologies are in enhancing precision and improving medical outcomes. We’re excited to announce the successful conclusion of our second Girls N Gears Workshop Series in the Tracy School District on July 25th, 2024! This series was packed with engaging topics, including the Engineering Design Process, Electricity, Biomedical Engineering, and more.What made this series even more special was our focus on leadership. We used this opportunity to train our chapter heads and officially pass on responsibilities for the Tracy chapter to our amazing new Chapter Head, Rhea Wartak! We had an amazing time collaborating with the Tracy Boys and Girls Club on June 20th and 21st, 2024! This workshop was unique because we targeted a younger audience than usual, working with girls in grades 1-4. Over two days, we explored topics like the Engineering Design Process, Structure and Stability, Circuits, Gravity and Forces, and Buoyancy. Seeing these young girls light up as they discovered new concepts and built their confidence in STEM was truly rewarding. Huge thanks to the Tracy Boys and Girls Club for this fantastic opportunity.
